In the conditions of the forest-steppe zone of the Chelyabinsk region, an assessment of the adaptive potential of potato varieties of different ripening periods, created in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan, was carried out. As a result of the research, 10 varieties of potatoes of the North Kazakhstan selection with high adaptability to the conditions of the South Urals were identified. Among them there are 4 varieties of intensive type: Akzhar (41.4 t/ha; bi = 1.84; Si 2 = 80), Valery (35.5 t/ha; bi = 1.76; Si 2 = 26.5), Alaya zarya (40.1 t/ha; bi = 1.37; Si 2 = 290), Kostanay news (32.5 t/ha; bi = 1.36; Si
2 = 0.4) and 3 ecologically plastic varieties: Artem (36.2 t/ha; bi = 1.14; Si 2 = 47.8), Terra-1 (34.0 t/ha; bi = 1.09; Si
2 = 9.2), Berry 19 (29.1 t/ha; bi = 0.93; Si 2 = 24.3). 2 varieties are neutral: Tustep (40.0 t/ha; bi = 0.56; Si 2 = 43.0) and Akzhar
(31.6 t/ha; bi = 0.55; Si 2 = 16.9), and the Kiru variety (40.0 t/ha; bi = 0.75; Si
2 = 96.4) occupies an intermediate position between plastic and neutral varieties and is distinguished by an unpredictable response to changes in environmental conditions.
