The scientific article discusses methods and means that can reduce the effect of trailer vibrations on a truck. The relevance of carrying out research aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the damping traction coupling mechanism, which softens jerks in the composition of the vehicle composition, is substantiated. A diagram of a new damping traction coupling mechanism is presented, and a method for determining its characteristics and equipment for conducting experiments to measure resistance, as well as the average speed of movement of a vehicle train in accordance with GOST 22576-90 are described. The article presents the results of theoretical studies on the basis of which the determination rational values of the rigidity of the coil spring kpr = 700-1100 N/mm and the width of the damping element Sd = 0.065-0.08 m of the towing mechanism. The results of research tests have shown that when using the developed damping towing mechanism, the traction resistance of the trailer is reduced by 15.4%, and its use as part of the KamAZ-5320 road train and the KamAZ-8560-82-02 trailer ensures an increase in the average speed of movement by 8 .1%, while the greatest increase in the average speed of movement of vehicles up to 10% is observed when the transportation distance increases to 35 km. The obtained research results can be used when operating automobile trains in all kinds of road conditions in order to increase their technical and operational characteristics.
