The article presents the topic of enhancing the motivation for learning of primary school students as a means of improving their academic performance, which is a pertinent issue in the modern era and necessitates meticulous examination. This paper presents an overview of the historical, scientific and pedagogical literature on this issue. A review of the literature revealed a multitude of potential solutions for enhancing student motivation. The necessity of instilling motivation for learning in younger students as a
means of enhancing their academic performance and the productivity of their creative work during training is substantiated. It has been demonstrated that increasing level of motivation, and consequently the success of learning among children in primary school, can be facilitated by utilizing the potential inherent within the content of educational material by the teacher; the implementation of systematic planning and the effective combination of structural elements as a part of lesson; the successful organisation of the intellectual work of students; and reasoned and objective assessment of the results of cognitive activity among schoolchildren.
Furthermore, the article elucidates strategies for enhancing educational motivation. The study revealed that the motivation of primary school students to learn is elevated through active, creative, research-oriented, and enthusiastic activities. The findings of this study enable the assessment of the efficacy of empirical, analytical, and pedagogical diagnostics in addressing the challenges of determining students' motivation for learning in primary educational institutions.
