Abstract

The article presents the results of an analysis of the practical application of STEM technology in the educational process of a higher educational institution when teaching biological cycle disciplines. The purpose of the study is to analyze the effectiveness of STEM technology in practical classes in the natural sciences in higher education. Objectives: to analyze the effectiveness of STEM technology using the example of studying the topic "Orthoptera" by students studying in the biological direction. In the process of work, initial testing of students for residual knowledge was carried out after a lesson in the traditional form of education and after a lesson using STEM technology. In the section on updating knowledge using STEM technology, a group method of work, personalization of tasks, visualization and analysis of the results were used. To determine the attitude of students to STEM technology, a questionnaire was conducted at the end of the lesson; appropriate conclusions were made for each question. The following research methods were used in the work: comparative analysis and pedagogical observation. As a result of the work, a statistically significant increase in the level of knowledge acquisition on the topic of the lesson after the use of STEM technology was shown. An increase in students' motivation and interest in studying the material, as well as the development of such skills as creativity, critical thinking, teamwork and focus on problem solving were noted.
