Abstract

The purpose of the study is to consider phatic strategies and combinations of communicative tactics in the texts of distance learning courses as one of the genres of pedagogical discourse. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that a comprehensive approach to the phenomenon under consideration is proposed based on the material of video English language courses designed for a wide audience, phatic strategies and tactics of the communicative influence of agents of pedagogical discourse that were not previously systematically presented in language theory have been identified and described. The linguistic, stylistic and rhetorical techniques used in their implementation are established; the specifics of the speech behavior of representatives of this discourse are determined. In general, the author focuses on such contact-establishing strategies as a strategy for attracting attention to the proposed material, whether it is language content, grammatical and usage rules, or issues of speech skills formation; and a strategy for maintaining audience attention, aimed at both the material itself and the course as a whole. In modern conditions of teaching foreign languages, given the fact that the educational environment is heterogeneous and competitive, mastery of the above-mentioned strata is the key both to improving the effectiveness of the learning process and to the relevance and commercial success of the courses offered. The results enable to develop practical workshop programs on the methodology of teaching foreign languages
