The article examines the current issue of using authentic materials, particularly media texts, for developing grammatical competence in foreign language teaching. The study analyzed modern approaches to defining the authenticity of educational materials based on review of studies by domestic and foreign researchers (S.K. Gural, A. Gilmore, K. Morrow, and others). The methodological foundation of the research consisted of general scientific methods (analysis and synthesis, generalization, systematic approach) and special methods of linguodidactics. Special attention is paid to the concept of "grammaticon" as an important component of a multicultural linguistic personality. The study presents a classification of grammaticon (universal, language-specific, and particular) and justifies its role in the formation of communicative competence. The author examines in detail various approaches to understanding the term "grammaticon," based on the works of Yu.N. Karaulov, E.I. Yaroslavtseva, and other researchers. The practical part of the study includes analysis of authentic media texts from the BBC website, demonstrating the effectiveness of using such materials for studying various grammatical categories. Based on the conducted research, the author concludes that authentic media texts have high potential in linguodidactics, emphasizing their role not only in developing grammatical competence but also in expanding students' background knowledge, which helps to increase motivation for learning a foreign language. The research contributes greatly to the development of modern linguodidactics and offers practical recommendations for using authentic materials in the foreign language learning process. The research results may be used by foreign language teachers, methodologists, and researchers in the field of language education to improve teaching methods and enhance the effectiveness of the educational process.
