The relevance of the study is related to the existing problems in student sports (insufficient attention paid by university administrations to sports issues, inadequate physical and technical competence of students, etc.). The ultimate goal of the study was to experimentally prove methodological approaches to improving the level of physical and technical competence of the girls' national volleyball team. To address it, we attempted to identify the main issues in the development of student sports; identify the level of physical and technical competence of female volleyball players, as well as the correlational relationship between them. Based on these results, a technology for improving the physical and technical fitness of female students is proposed. The scientific and practical significance of this paper lies in the substantiation of methodological guidelines for improving the physical and technical fitness of the female university volleyball players. For the study, we selected 20 female players aged 18-20. To determine their specific competence, we used specialized tests such as the standing vertical jump, zigzag run, and standing long jump. Technical competence was assessed by recording the number of serves, ball receptions, and blocks. An inadequate initial level of technical competence was identified among female volleyball players. Within the framework of assessing technical preparedness, higher values were observed in receiving the passed balls and served balls, while the lowest values were recorded in serve reception. A greater number of errors was identified in serve reception compared to serving. A weak negative correlation was found between handgrip dynamometry parameters and serve efficiency. For other indicators of specific competence, positive correlations were recorded. Accordingly, it is proposed to incorporate elements of sport-oriented physical education based on volleyball. To enhance sport-specific preparedness, exercises aimed at improving hand function and jump endurance are recommended, while the development of technical competence requires targeted tasks designed to correct deficiencies in technical elements.
