Abstract

The development of the digital educational environment and the widespread introduction of network and communication technologies into the secondary education system raise the issue of the adoption of specialized IT courses by students. Despite the high level of technical fit-out and the innovative status of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, the willingness of students to accept and actively master the course "Network Technologies", as well as the factors influencing this process, require additional scientific analysis. This study is aimed at identifying the factors determining the intention of students of Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana to accept and use the knowledge and practical tools of the course "Network Technologies". The study was performed within the framework of a modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) supplemented by social and motivational variables. The study employs a quantitative approach. The respondents were selected using a targeted sampling method. An online survey was conducted among students of Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana who were currently studying or had previously completed the “Network Technologies” course. The data was processed using the SPSS package and the structural equation modeling (SEM) method. The study results showed that social influence, perceived usefulness of the course and perceived enjoyment have a statistically significant impact on the intention of students to take and master the course "Network Technologies". It has been established that social influence indirectly influences intention through perceived usefulness. At the same time, the perceived ease of learning the course did not demonstrate a significant direct impact on the intention of its adoption. The results obtained emphasize the significant role of pedagogical support and the educational environment in the process of adopting the course "Network Technologies" by students, and also indicate the need to improve teaching methods and practice-oriented course content.
