The article examines the living conditions and economic foundations of Turkic peoples as reflected in Abulghazi’s work «Shejire-i Tarakime». Using a historical and source-critical approach, the study analyses information contained in the source concerning economic structures, socio-economic relations, and features of everyday life characteristic of nomadic and semi-nomadic societies. The data presented in the work are interpreted within the historical circumstances of the period, which makes it possible to reveal their connection with the development of medieval Turkic society. Particular Attention is paid to concepts such as zhurt, the spatial organization of migrations, military booty, and taxation mechanisms, as well as their role in the system of economic organization and political authority. The study also highlights the importance of the source for understanding the traditional economic system and daily life of Turkic peoples. The research further considers the influence of the time of composition and the author’s perspective on the content of the source. Since Abulghazi’s work was written in the seventeenth century, the events described in it are examined in the context of the political and ideological conditions of the period and the tradition of genealogical narrative. This makes it possible to identify the interpretative nature of certain historical accounts and underlines the necessity of applying methods of source criticism in assessing their reliability. In addition, the information contained in the work is compared with other medieval written sources, which allows their complementary character to be revealed. The findings contribute to a clearer understanding of the socio-economic structure of medieval Turkic society and provide a new perspective on the evolution of the economic system of the steppe civilization.
