The aim of this study is to examine the productivity and oil content of various oilseed flax samples (varieties) under the conditions of the Kostanay region, and to identify the most promising ones for further use in production and breeding. The article presents the results of a comprehensive study of the varietal characteristics of oilseed flax in the agro-climatic conditions of the Kostanay region. A comparative analysis of the varieties was conducted based on key valuable agricultural traits. The experimental studies were conducted under conditions of minimum tillage at the field station of the Laboratory of Crop Breeding of the Zarechnoye Agricultural Experimental Station, located in the arid steppe zone of the Kostanay region. The results showed that variety selection is a key factor in ensuring stable yields and high oil content. Varieties exhibiting high productivity, resistance to lodging and adverse climatic conditions, and the ability to maintain the biological stability of crops were identified. The findings have practical significance, allowing the most adapted oilseed flax varieties to be recommended for inclusion in crop rotations in the northern steppe region to improve production profitability and agroecosystem sustainability. These recommendations can be used in planning varietal policies of farms and in developing strategies for the intensification of oilseed flax production in arid areas.
