In the context of the internationalization and digitalization of modern education, developing intercultural competence in students is particularly important, ensuring their readiness for effective interaction in a multinational and multicultural environment. The rapid transformation of communication technologies and the active integration of digital media into the educational process create new opportunities for developing this competence through multimedia content. Of particular interest is the use of short videos, which are characterized by high dynamism, visual appeal, and the ability to convey cultural meanings in a concise form. This article examines the pedagogical potential of short videos as an innovative tool for developing students' intercultural competence in the context of digitalization. Using a theoretical and analytical approach, the cognitive, affective, and communicative functions of short videos presented on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels are analyzed. It is noted that this format not only promotes the transfer of cultural knowledge but also the development of empathy, tolerance, reflexivity, and critical thinking. Particular attention is paid to the pedagogical potential of integrating short videos into the educational process of higher education. The scientific novelty of this study lies in its theoretical substantiation of the mechanisms by which short videos influence the development of the structural components of intercultural competence, as well as in the identification of didactic conditions that ensure their effective use in higher education. The practical significance of this work lies in the development of recommendations for the pedagogically meaningful integration of short videos into the educational process with the aim of developing students' cultural sensitivity, intercultural empathy, and readiness for global interaction.
