Abstract

This study examines the impact of an immersive learning environment on the development of professional foreign language skills among students in the field of tourism. The research was conducted on the basis of a quasi-experimental method, using quantitative and qualitative data. First- to third-year students of the International University of Tourism and Hospitality were divided into two groups: the experimental group, using immersive technologies VR, AR, 360° video, and role-playing simulations, practiced professional situations, while the control group was taught according to traditional methods. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test results, a speaking skills assessment rubric, student questionnaires, and interviews with teachers. The results showed that the immersive environment significantly improved students’ speaking fluency, professional vocabulary, intercultural communication, and ability to make decisions in real situations. In addition, the technologies increased students’ motivation and active participation in classes. According to the conclusion of the study, the immersive educational environment showed that it can significantly improve students’ professional foreign language skills, decision-making ability, and motivation. The introduction of these technologies into the teaching practice of students in the field of tourism is an effective tool for practice-oriented and interactive learning in addition to traditional methods. Students can apply the experience gained in a virtual environment to real professional work situations, which enables to raise their professional competence to a new level.
