Abstract

This article presents the results of an assessment of the effectiveness of vocal performance training for music education bachelor’s students based on Shulman's signature pedagogy in the SPOC format. The relevance of the study stems from the need to find pedagogical approaches that contribute to improving the quality of vocal performance activities of future music teachers. The scientific research focused on the following issues: the perception by music education bachelor’s students of the traditional form of vocal performance training; the development of a SPOC-based online course that integrates the fundamental principles of Shulman's signature pedagogy, as well as an assessment of its effectiveness. The following methods were used for this purpose: questionnaires, quantitative and qualitative methods, comparative analysis of mean values, and ANOVA variance analysis. The results showed an increase in students' academic performance and a significant development of their vocal performance skills. However, no significant differences in the level of motivation for learning were found among students who studied in an electronic format based on Shulman's signature pedagogy and those who studied in a traditional format. At the same time, the obtained results expand the theoretical foundation for further research on the influence of various factors on the implicit level of the fundamental components of Shulman’s signature pedagogy in the context of digital technologies. The study makes a theoretical contribution to addressing issues of quality assurance in the professional training of music education bachelor’s students.
