The Holy Qur’an states that just as a human being was created for the first time, he will be created again in the same way. “He who created him the first time will bring him back to life” [36, Ya-Sin, 78–79]; “The Angel of Death, who has been appointed over you, will take your souls, and then you will be returned to your Lord” [32, Surah As-Sajdah, verses 10–11]; “He gives you life and causes you to die, and to Him belongs the alternation of night and day. Will you not then understand?” [23, Surah Al-Mu’minun, verse 80], it is stated.
All civilized religions have been speaking about the existence of the soul for more than three thousand years. However, as humanity has achieved material wealth, our spiritual world has begun to stagnate, and our worldview has started to change. Even medicine, without acknowledging the soul granted by Almighty Allah, still cannot free itself from a materialistic perspective.
In fact, is there life after death? What are the “soul” and the “spirit”? What do religion, our great personalities, theologians, and philosophers say about them? What contribution did Ybyrai Altynsarin make to the study of the soul? This article discusses these questions and attempts to find answers to them.
