Abstract

The article considers financial literacy as an interdisciplinary category located at the intersection of economics, finance and pedagogy, and analyzes its impact on the sustainability of economic development and financial security of the state. Particular attention is paid to pedagogical mechanisms for the formation of the financial culture of the population at various age stages, as well as risks arising in the process of teaching financial literacy. The need for a systematic pedagogical approach focused on the development of practical competencies, critical thinking and responsible financial behavior is justified. The article presents the results of an experimental study of the pedagogical mechanisms for the formation of financial culture and literacy of the population of different age groups. The study covered schoolchildren, students and the adult population. The study employed a comprehensive method involving interviews, focus groups, observation, and quantitative and qualitative statistical methods of data analysis, confirming the effectiveness of educational practices. The largest increase in indicators was detected in students, which is associated with practice-oriented training. A positive correlation has been established between the level of financial literacy and responsible financial behavior of the population. The classification of risks of financial education, criteria for their assessment and recommendations for minimizing negative consequences are presented. Attention is paid to the current state of the practical aspects of the formation of a culture of financial literacy, confirming the importance of financial behavior in economic thinking.
